The Cake That Never Was

This was a cake I was working on just to test out using modeling chocolate for figures and a new cake recipe I call "The Malt Shop." The flavor is dark chocolate malt cake with chocolate malt candy crushed in the batter then filled with a cherry vanilla butter cream. It was really awesome... but the cake and the figure didn't meet my standards.

The modeling chocolate was too soft and the silver color was too thin. The whole thing ended up in "Davy Jones' Locker." The pictures below are all that is left of the experiment. It was good practice anyway. Thought you might enjoy seeing a behind-the-scenes project that didn't make the cut.

Recipe stays... cake design and figure gets the thumbs down! What do you think? Leave me a comment and let me know.
